Whew finally a hectic week is over!!! Have been really busy this week and all the projects, meetings, discussions, assignments are all out. At least the Heat Transfer assignment is done. So now there's still a report, one design project and the optimization project left.
Also counting down towards the Solar Innovations event at the 27th of August 2004, to be held at Nanyang Auditorium. To whoever is reading this blog, I hope you will come over to this competition which is open to the public if you happen to be in NTU.
Cleaned up my hostel room this afternoon and goodness, there's a lot of dust!! But after some cleaning, it should be fit for human living I guess.... Hmm, intending to get a bar fridge and a laptop for use at hall, so will be shopping around this weekend. Oh and for anyone intendng to catch the movie Catwoman, I suggest you choose a weekday to watch this movie. It just isn't worth spending $8.50 on this lacklustre movie.

It's been quite some time since my last post. School work's been piling up so it's only now then was I able to post something.
Watched another movie (as usual) but this movie is a must-watch. It's Zhang Yimou's 2004 movie "House of Flying Daggers". As usual the movie did not dissapoint, the artistic approach to films is there and the style is still his perfectionist style. Absolutely stunning, especially the elaborate costumes and the grand pavilion in the starting scene. The fighting scenes is also another superb masterpiece.
I really have to hand it to Zhang Yimou, he just makes a normal story really philosophical and full of depth. I guess this is what separates the best directors from the amateurs. One director who has a similar style is, I think Steven Spielberg. Well he has also made some very nice philosophical movies like Minority Report with that little bit of twist to the plot.
One thing to cheer this week is that I got my hall room already. Will be staying at Hall Nine Block 48 now, and the moving in should take place this weekend. Finally, experiencing hall life in my last year. At least it is still not too late!!

Its the MPE Week this week and a really good start to the new semester. The highlight of the MPE Week is of course the MPE Day on Wednesday where they were giving out goodie bags as well as free Mac lunches. Actually the best goodie in the bag was the MPE T-Shirt. Especially this year's one, it's quite cool. The back design is of a model kit with the words MPE Week 2004 to look like a really mechanical stuff! Then the front is engraved with the theme for this year 'ToGearTher'. Sounds like the whole MPE Fac is really united right??
Hmm the lessons are starting to give pressures, since the projects, CAs and assignments are all lined up already. Will be designing a time display unit for my Mech. Design Project and thetricky part is the time cannot be displayed by a normal clock face with 3 hands neither can it be a plain LCD display. Must be truly creative this time round.
Finally decided to drop my Fluids Engineering and take it next semester. It's really tough especially with FYP this year. Moreover I will be taking one killer subject this semester, which is Heat Transfer. Do not really want to risk 'Da-Baoing' subjects especially in 4th year. So better spend more time studying and resting....time to sleep! Ciao!

The 1st weekend of the new semester has just passed, too fast... Spent saturday sending my grandma and aunt to the airport before meeting up with Sonny and TYH to go watch Taegukgi. In case some of you do not know, Taegukgi is the korean title of this excellent war movie, whose English title is Brotherhood. What an excellent movie it was, this isn't just the average crappy Hollywood-made war movie. Taegukgi is something more, as it interplays the human emotions involved and the movie truly showcases Asian Confucianism values which Hollywood movies fail to grasp. This movie has replaced Spiderman 2 to be the best movie I watched for the year. Basically the movie is about the life of 2 brothers that was interrupted when they were drafted into the army to fight for South Korea. The elder brother decides to be the hero to win recognition to allow his younger brother to be sent home to continue on the family line and to act as a beacon of hope for his family. Though the storyline seems simple, it includes a lot of good scenes which depicts wartime, how ideologies caused a separate Korea, and practical human emotions. The middle of the year is truly a great time for movies, since Zhang Yimou's latest creation, House of Flying Daggers is also out. Hope to catch that movie soon and keeping my mouth closed for this one could be even better.
Yesterday, Sonny was saying how much I frequent the airport and come to think of it that is qute true. I guess I drive to the airport at the rate of 2 times per month. And I will be going to the airport again to fetch my parents and little brother tomorrow. Maybe only the taxi drivers drive to the airport more frequently than me !
Sunday is traditionally the slowest day of the week but mine seems to go in a flash. Altered the judging form for the Solar Innovations event and then went to Great World City for lunch, and I got the episodes of 'Triumph in The Skies' that I have not watched since I left for Indonesia. The VCD rental outlet now has the poster for this HK Drama 'Twin of Brothers' out and will definitely rent this series after watching finish the ones I rented. Sigh the new semester has just started and here I am still thinking of watching TV and movies.....
